Broken Veins / Spider Veins
What are broken or spider veins?
Broken veins, or spider veins, are tiny veins just under the skin that look like a sunburst, a spider web or just red dots that can be flat or raised on the skin. They can also appear as short, unconnected lines and many people have them. Although they’re not dangerous, you may want to talk to the skincare expert at totalcare, who can sort them out out quickly and comfortably for you. Spider veins are usually caused by a blend of genetics, the upsurge in hormones at puberty, birth control pills, pregnancy and hormone replacement therapy. Also, the older you are and the more sun damage you have had over your lifetime, the more likely you are to get them.A lot of Irish women get spider veins on their face due to exposure to windy conditions and weather extremes and because they have more fragile and delicate facial skin.
The experts recommend:
Angie treats visible red capillaries and red dots (anginoma) by placing a small, disposable probe at the end of the capillary line and releasing a tiny amount of electrical current for a few thousandths of a second to create heat. This coagulates the blood causing it to be re absorbed by the skin. This is a new method for the removal of skin imperfections and it’s really comfortable thanks to the speed and efficiency of the treatment. The results are instant.
Before After
Vita-Sensa LT – 2G
The Vita-Sensa LT is the most versatile beauty option since it provides treatments for many facial skin problems : redness, acne, wrinkles, loss of firmness and dull complexion. It differs from the other devices on
the market because it offers 3 colours on the same device as well as the possibility of combining 2 colours at a time. Each colour penetrates the skin at a specific depth and generates distinct effects. The blue colour produces a purifying effect on the sebaceous glands and acne, the green colour reduces the aspect of redness caused by broken capillaries, while red diminishes the signs of aging. We can add this to any of our treatments and we also sell it as a home-care product, so that clients can continue their treatments at home.
It is a preventative treatment that does not treat capillaries that are already broken but uses a green light, which is the opposite colour to red on the light spectrum, to treat underlying redness which can often lead to broken capillaries.
Our top tips on avoiding broken or spider veins:
- Stop smoking or vaping if you use either or both.
- Avoid spicy foods.
- Avoid extreme temperatures and frequently moving between hot and cold air.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and always use a total sun block like the Verdeoasi or Dr. Kraut Protective Face Day Cream.
- Make sure you use the correct skincare products to protect your skin, especially with underlying redness or sensitivity.
Talk to your skincare therapist and always make sure you follow their specific recommendations for care before and after your treatment.
